Tenant involvement and empowerment standard

Tenant Involvement and Empowerment Local Offer

We will involve residents in a variety of ways in all areas of our business.

We will help residents set up community groups when required or asked to do so.

We will provide advice, training and information for tenant representatives and resident groups as required and when requested.

We will provide accessible meeting rooms, training and guidance to ensure that individuals’ needs are met.

We will publish a schedule of training options for all residents including training to maximise the use of new technology.

We will communicate in a way to meet the needs of the individual including email and texting.

We will reimburse expenses to cover travel costs, childcare, and other caring responsibilities and, where appropriate, a proportion of internet and printing costs, to enable residents to play an active role in our work.

We aim to have a minimum of four tenant Board members on the Magna West Somerset Board of Management.

We will provide practical help, administration support and training for residents to ensure that meetings are run effectively.

We will set aside an annual tenant participation budget and a community improvement budget.  The community improvement budget will be administered by the Tenants Panel of Magna West Somerset.

We will recognise residents’ groups that comply with our Equality and Diversity Policy, demonstrate that they, and their members, don’t discriminate against other people, and actively seek members that reflect the make up of the local communities they serve.

We will work with residents to meet the actions set out in the resident involvement strategy.  This will be monitored quarterly at Tenants’ Panel meetings.
