Panto comes to Porlock

1/17/2012

Pantomime season came to Porlock in the shape of Snow White and the Six Large Dwarfs.

The pantomime was written and performed by Healeys residents for family and friends to two full houses. It’s the second year running a pantomime has been held in the community room and it’s now become an annual event.

The missing dwarf was Sleepy, explained Chris Bulpin, the manager of Healeys sheltered housing scheme. “He was probably having a doze somewhere!” she said.

“They want to do it again next year,” Chris said. “It was a great success and lots of fun.”

She paid tribute to tenant Fred Dale, who painted the backdrops and created the magic mirror.

Another highlight was a glass coffin on wheels in which Snow White, played by Dorothy Hordley, was revived from her deathly slumber by Melody Keeling as the prince, who arrived on her bicycle to kiss the heroine. Ice creams were served during the interval.

Alan Moore took the part of the wicked queen, Chris Bulpin, as Happy, led the dwarfs, who were played by Sue Bonar, Joan Shaw, Lynda Smith, Margaret Moore and David Kendall, who was also the huntsman.

Chris said: “We had a collection at both performances so the tenants will decide which charity they would like to support. Watch this space for next year’s pantomime!”
