MWS volunteers are finalists in Care Focus Care Awards

Six dedicated volunteers from MWS have been shortlisted in the Care Focus Care Awards 2010.

The meals on wheels team deliver meals on a daily basis, 365 days a year, in all weathers.
And their efforts have been rewarded with a place in the finals in the outstanding volunteer category.

They’ll find out if they’ve won at a four-course gala dinner at the Wellsprings Centre, Taunton, on 15 October.

Care Focus is the health care, social care, social work careers and skills development provider for Somerset.

The meals on wheels team, comprising Amanda Taylor, Kay Sampson, Beryl Scott, Marion Moran, Leigh Shopland and Terry Harris say they find the voluntary role enormously rewarding because it makes a difference in the community.

They deliver to vulnerable customers, giving support and social contact and have even been the first response when a customer has needed help. They enable people to stay independent longer and they say the positive interaction they get from customers makes them proud to provide this service.
