It's been a good year

Magna West Somerset Housing Association has built 40 new affordable homes in the last year, with another 58 in the pipeline over the next 12 months.

At the association’s annual general meeting, chairman Piers Feilden said it had been a particularly good year for developing more homes.

Twelve two-bedroom flats have been built at Alcombe, Minehead, 17 houses at Bramley Close, Wellington, and 11 flats at Granary Court in Barnstaple.

This year, the housing association will be building six flats at Townsend, Williton, six houses at Slade Close, Stogumber, 36 two-bedroom flats in Holyoake Street, Wellington, and six houses and four flats at Cutcombe Market, Wheddon Cross.

Other highlights from the year included:

* Resident satisfaction levels were very high compared with other housing associations
* all the association’s 2,100 homes across Somerset and Devon achieved the Government’s Decent Homes Standard

Mr Feilden said: “I am grateful to MWS director Tony Murray and his staff for their hard work to improve the quality of services to our customers during the year.”

The association is a not-for-profit organisation which provides and manages quality affordable homes for people who cannot afford to buy or rent the accommodation they need on the open housing market.
