Supported Housing Drop In Day

MWS supported Housing Month
Daily activities like cooking, cleaning and keeping the garden in check may seem like normal chores but imagine how difficult life could become if you were unable to do them. Magna West Somerset (MWS) held a supported housing ‘Drop-in’ Day to prove that being unable to do certain daily tasks doesn’t mean losing your freedom.
Around 650 organisations provide over 2,800 housing support services in the South West of England. The drop-in day at the Foxes Hotel, Minehead welcomed local residents to come and find out more. By raising awareness of the vast array of community services available, many older, disabled and vulnerable residents in the community can hold onto independent living.
Many services were showcased at the recent drop-in, including meals on wheels, Lifeline & Telecare, gardener & handyman services.
Neil Bliss commented, “The National Housing Federation is promoting supported housing this month. Our drop-in day successfully helped to raise awareness of the community services available to all residents of West Somerset”.
If you would like more information on the services available you can contact Neil Bliss, Community Services Projects Manager, telephone: 0800 1386107/01984 635114.
